The promotion allowed Furuya the opportunity to revisit his characters for the first time in about 20 years, which he described as “a lot of fun”.
Minoru Furuya’s vulgar and irreverent table tennis gag manga, Ping-Pong Club, may have concluded way back in 1996, but that doesn’t meant the manga author can’t have a little fun with his characters in an unusual promotion with Mix, an upcoming live-action romantic comedy about couples playing mixed table tennis matches.
The film follows Tamako Tomita (played by Aragaki), a former table-tennis prodigy who is spending her adult life as an ordinary officer worker.
