The Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday that NBCUniversal has concluded a US$3.8 billion deal to acquire Dreamworks Animation.
Dreamworks Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg will head Dreamworks New Media division, a newly created division for NBCUniversal, and will also serve as a consultant to NBCUniversal.
According to the report, Comcast Corp., the parent company of NBCUniversal, will pay US$41 to Dreamworks shareholders for each share of Dreamworks stock.
Dreamworks Animation will be one of NBCUniversal’s animation labels, alongside Illumination Entertainment.
