Netflix announced on Wednesday that its planned increase of subscription plan prices will take effect for existing subscribers in May.
The price increase is the first time the service has increased prices for all of its subscription plans (it had previously not raised the price of its US$8 basic subscription).
The service last increased subscription prices in the United States in 2017.
The service’s most popular plan, which allows users to stream in HD, raised its price from US$11 to US$13 per month.
