Kyoto Animation posted the second teaser trailer, a new key visual, and theme song information for the first film in the new two-part anime film project Free! The Final Stroke on Monday.

The Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Bond and Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Promise compilation films opened in April 2017 and July 2017, respectively.

The Free! -Take Your Marks- omnibus film of short stories then opened in October 2017.

The editors of Kodansha’s Evening magazine announced on Monday that manga creator Hiroto Wada suddenly passed away on July 18 due to a cerebral hemorrhage and other contributing factors.

The magazine editors expressed their sorrow and regret on Wada’s untimely passing and what it meant for the plans he still had for the future.

Wada’s manga titles include Phara-o, a comedy about an Egyptian pharaoh in modern Tokyo which he drew from 2017 to 2018.

The film sold a total of 28,966,806 tickets for 40,016,942,050 yen (about US$367.6 million) in Japan as of May 23 — and became the first film ever to pass the 40 billion yen milestone.

The Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train anime ranked at #7 at the Japanese box office in tickets sold this past weekend.

The film is screening again at over 380 theaters in Japan from July 22-29 as a limited-time “final screening” run.

Netflix is listing Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Beginning, the second of two “final chapter” films in the live-action film series based on Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin manga for streaming in the United States on July 30.

Netflix began streaming the first film, Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō The Final, worldwide outside Japan on June 18.

The top cosplayer in Japan, Enako, who made over 50 million yen (US$482,742) from her work in 2020 has this week collaborated with Monthly Action to bring Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid’s Tohru to life.

The cosplayer wore the dragon maid outfit for a photoshoot for the magazine for this month’s issue.

The Kyoto Animation film is scheduled to be released on September 17, 2021, inside Japan, while the second part is scheduled for April 22, 2022.

Both parts will be directed and written by Eisaku Kawanami at Kyoto Animation with Masahiro Yokotani (all Free! series) helping with the script.

The newest trailer for the upcoming first part of the Free!-the Final Stroke- duology was released today, teasing more about the film (including a shot of “NSW Stadium”).

Last month, Toho revealed that Japanese rock band ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION will be performing the theme song for the My Hero Academia THE MOVIE World Heroes’ Mission film.

My Hero Academia THE MOVIE World Heroes’ Mission opens in Japan on August 6.

Science fiction action anime s-CRY-ed is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with a new book of production illustrations that comes packaged with a brand new audio drama CD featuring cast and crew members from the original TV production.

The bonus audio drama CD features supervision by Goro Taniguchi and a script by series composer Yōsuke Kuroda.

The s-CRY-ed Official Animation Design Works book features 250 pages of production and promotional artwork, including a new cover illustration by series character designer Hisashi Hirai.
