Entertainment news magazine Variety reported on Monday that Stories International — the joint venture of Sega Group and Hakuhodo DY Group for film and television projects — has partnered with production company Circle of Confusion to adapt Sega’s Altered Beast and Streets of Rage game franchises.
Sega released the first installment in the Streets of Rage series for the Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis in 1991.
Sega hired Cholfin, a former executive of Break Media, to orchestrate film, television, and digital entertainment projects based on Sega properties in 2014.
Stories International is aiming to make film and television adaptations of other Sega properties, including Shinobi, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, The House of the Dead, and Crazy Taxi.
