The director established Studio Chizu in 2011 to produce Wolf Children and The Boy and The Beast.
Mamoru Hosoda, the director of such critically and financially successful anime movies as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, and Wolf Children, is planning to release his new film in 2018.
The Boy and The Beast debuted at #1 in the Japanese box-office in July 2015 and earned 667,035,100 yen (about US$5.4 million) in its first two days.
He indicated in an Associated Press interview that after dealing with motherhood in Wolf Children and fatherhood in last year’s The Boy and The Beast, he will address “siblings” as the theme of his next film.
