The 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics were capped with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe coming out of a green pipe dressed as Mario, so it’s odd to see that Nintendo characters aren’t part of an upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics promotional merchandise campaign.
A line of merchandise featuring some of Japan’s most beloved characters is missing any representation from Nintendo.
As we get closer to 2020 and more Olympics merch rolls out, we’ll see for sure whether the Big N was snubbed or not.
